HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE GREAT, DR. SEUSS!!!!!

Today I am going to share a quilt that has been in the works for months. I can’t remember when I started it exactly, but it was last year sometime, and I had planned to finish it before Christmas. Well, life got in the way; Derick and I thought we were going to get to move into our new home before Christmas, and when we didn’t…. we became GRINCHES

That’s right! I have a Dr. Seuss quilt to share with you all.

Now before I share this quilt with y’all, I just want to reminisce on my childhood for a bit. I don’t know what your favorite Dr. Seuss book is (leave me a comment to let me know), but my favorite is and always will be, DRUM ROLL PLEASE…… Fox in Socks. My sweetest cousin, Robin, gave my brother and I both a copy of Fox in Socks as a graduation present because it’s our favorite. (We love you, Robin). The original that my mom has at her house has no cover and is totally falling apart because we read it so much. I remember my mom starting out reading it s o s l o w and then she would speedupsuperfast, and she never messed up! Or I don’t remember her messing up. But I have now acquired this gift of reading Fox in Socks superfastandnotmessingup because I had the greatest teacher as a child. (Let me know if you want me to read Fox in Socks to you because I totally will just to show off this hidden talent of mine).

And that’s what Dr. Seuss is all about, fun, nonsensical ramblings that get your inner child going if you’re an adult, and get your children laughing if you have children. He is the greatest author ever, and when I have children his books will be some of the first that they read!

Now on to the finished quilt!

Did you guess what theme the quilt is? I gave you a bit of a hint up top….

The, the, the….. THE GRINCH!!!!

I love the super scrappy look of this quilt: the top, the backing, the binding. Sadly, I didn’t finish it before Christmas, but today being Dr. Seuss’s birthday was just the push I needed to complete it!

Here are some up close pictures of some of my favorite parts:

And finally the backing:

(I’m sorry my pictures seem a little off center and not up close and personal like I normally do. I just barely got this baby finished before sunset, and I was trying very hard not to get my shadow in the photos! Next I’m working on my photography skills!)

Thank you all so much for visiting again. I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed writing it! This was definitely a fun one, and I can’t wait to cuddle under this quilt at Grinchmas time! LOL

And now I leave you with one of my favorite lines from How the Grinch Stole Christmas, which doesn’t just apply to Christmas time, it applies to everyday of life!
